House cleaning checklist

A weekly + monthly + quarterly cleaning checklist keeps a home consistently clean without turning cleaning into a full weekend job.

Weekly

Kitchen

• Wipe worktops, hob and splashbacks.
• Clean sink and taps.
• Wipe outside of appliances.
• Mop floor.
• Empty bin.

Bathrooms

• Clean bath/shower, toilet, basin, mirror.
• Wipe tiles and taps.
• Mop floor.
• Empty bin.

All rooms

• Dust reachable surfaces.
• Hoover carpets; mop hard floors.
• Change bed linen (usually weekly or fortnightly).

Monthly

• Clean inside microwave.
• Wipe skirting boards in high-traffic rooms.
• Descale kettle and shower head.
• Clean washing machine drawer and door seal.
• Wipe internal doors and door frames.
• Hoover under sofa cushions and around edges of rooms.

Quarterly

• Clean inside oven and extractor filter.
• Defrost freezer (if not frost-free).
• Wash curtains or launder cushion covers.
• Wipe inside windows and window sills.
• Move small furniture and hoover under.
• Clean light fittings.

Annually

• Deep-clean carpets or professional shampoo.
• Wash walls if painted with a wipeable finish.
• Clean inside kitchen cupboards.
• Move large appliances and clean behind.
