Our research methodology
Cleaning Info is published by Northern Tech Ltd, a UK technology company. This page explains how we assess cleaning companies and cleaning products, and how we keep the information on the site accurate and honest.
Cleaning companies
How providers are selected
- We include established domestic cleaning providers that publish a clear service description for the local area we cover.
- We do not include unverified sole-trader listings from directory sites, because their offerings and status change too quickly to compare fairly.
- We accept requests from local providers to be listed. Listings are free. See the contact page.
How providers are assessed
Every provider is scored against the same six criteria:
- Service model: employed teams, franchise, or self-employed introduction agency.
- Vetting: DBS checks, references, identity verification.
- Insurance: whether public liability insurance is held by the provider.
- Guarantee: whether a written satisfaction guarantee is published.
- Local coverage: how many postcodes and surrounding villages the provider actively serves.
- Track record: length of operation and any parent-brand backing.
Sources
Provider information is drawn from that provider's own official website on the date shown on each provider page. If a specific claim (for example, public liability insurance) is not published on the provider's own website, we say "not stated" rather than assume. The claim may still be true; it just isn't publicly verifiable.
What we do not do
- We do not fabricate Google or Trustpilot review numbers. Live ratings should be viewed on those platforms directly.
- We do not publish subjective reviews of providers.
- We do not accept payment for a recommendation.
- We do not invent negative information about competitors.
Cleaning products
How products are selected
- Only products with a settled listing on Amazon UK are included, so links stay live.
- We prefer products with a clear published specification (weight, dimensions, materials, wash-cycle life) over private-label listings that come and go.
- We look for products with a consistent user-report theme across published reviews. We do not treat a small number of five-star reviews as evidence.
How products are assessed
Each product article uses the same structure:
- Quick pick and reason
- Comparison at a glance (table)
- Methodology
- Assessment criteria
- Individual product analysis with strengths and weaknesses
- Alternatives worth knowing about
- FAQs
Affiliate links
Product links on this site are Amazon Associates affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate, Northern Tech Ltd earns from qualifying purchases. Affiliate revenue does not influence which products are picked. See our affiliate disclosure for the full detail.
Prices, ranges and estimates
Where we cite prices (for cleaning services or products) we distinguish three things:
- Observed price: a specific price published by a specific provider on a specific date.
- Estimated price: an output of our cost calculator based on inputs you provide.
- Typical market range: a range collected from multiple providers, always with the date the range was compiled.
Ranges are indicative only. Always confirm a price with the specific provider before booking.
How we keep the site accurate
- Each provider page shows the date on which the underlying information was last verified.
- Each product article shows the date of the last full review.
- We accept corrections. Email hello@northerntechltd.com with any factual error and we will investigate.
Editorial independence
Northern Tech Ltd operates Cleaning Info as an editorial project. Where we recommend a specific provider (for example, MOLLY MAID Cheltenham), that recommendation is based on the criteria set out above and can be reasoned against publicly-available information. If a stronger provider emerges on those criteria, the recommendation will change.
